| Finance
The Asbury Communities Finance Team provides
system-wide centralized services for financial reporting, resident
billing and collections, accounts payable and payroll. We partner
with each community to consult on financial management issues and
educate staff on accounting policies and procedures, while also
working with operations leadership to set performance goals and
provide the financial tools necessary to measure success. We
electronically deliver accurate and timely financial data to the
user’s desktop, enabling managers to provide top quality senior
services in a financially responsible environment.
The Finance Team is committed to helping Asbury
Communities grow by ensuring that resources are protected and
maximized. We strive to continually improve the service we provide
by soliciting feedback from our partners. Examples of our services

Michael J. Connell, CPA, Chief Financial
Officer
A certified public accountant, Michael J. Connell has worked
within the senior living industry for 14 years in financial
planning and management roles. He is responsible for the overall
financial strength of Asbury Communities, and measures program
and financial performance to achieve desirable results while
ensuring the integrity of the financial information needed for
strategic decision making by the Board. His duties include
planning, implementation, coordination, and maintenance of the
computerized accounting records for the entire Asbury System.
Prior to joining Asbury Communities early in 2007, Mr. Connell
served as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for Ingleside
Presbyterian Retirement Community, Inc. in Washington, D.C.,
overseeing the finance and accounting functions for the
long-term care retirement community and its foundation. He
previously served as the Director of Finance & CFO with
Lourdes-Noreen McKeen Residence for Geriatric Care, Inc. in West
Palm Beach, Florida, and also has years of experience as a
former healthcare auditor for Ernst & Young LLP. Mr. Connell is
a member of the American Institute of Certified Public
Accountants and the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from College of Saint
Rose in Albany, New York. |

Kim Ehrenfried, CPA, Controller
A certified public accountant, Kim has 16 years experience in
accounting and management. She is currently responsible for
reviewing and evaluating the financial position and performance
for the entire Asbury Communities system, maintaining accounting
policies and procedures, coordinating the monthly financial
close process and facilitating the annual independent audit.
Prior to joining Asbury Communities in the fall of 2007, Kim
served as Manager, Technical Accounting & Reporting with
MedImmune, Inc. where she assisted in the preparation and filing
of press releases and financial statements. She previously
served as the Controller with Wolters Kluwer, Law & Business, a
legal publishing company, for seven years and also has six years
experience as a former auditor for KPMG LLP. Kim is a member of
the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She
holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Virginia
Polytechnic Institute and State University. |

Gregory Jackson, Director of Financial
Reporting
Gregory Jackson has more than 13 years of experience in
accounting and financial-related positions. He is currently
responsible for maintaining Asbury Communities’ accounting
policies and procedures, coordinating the monthly financial
close process, reporting investment performance, generating
monthly financial statements, and coordinating the interim and
year-end audits. He served as an Accountant and a Quality
Consultant (“Six Sigma Champion”) in process improvement teams
for GE Capital prior to joining Asbury Communities in 2000. Mr.
Jackson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from
Fayetteville State University.
