Betty Petrick<\/p><\/div>\n

Endowment: The Gift That Keeps Giving<\/h1>\n

\u201cI truly believe that I have become a better person since coming to Normandie Ridge,\u201d says resident Betty Petrick. \u201cEvery day I see examples of courage, faith, friendliness and caring.\u201d<\/p>\n

It was those qualities and her desire to leave a mark on what she describes as a community that has \u201cgiven me a life to celebrate in my waning years,\u201d that led Betty in 2022 to establish an endowment that will commence upon her death.<\/p>\n

For Betty this method of giving is preferable to making gifts in smaller blocks to \u201cassorted friends, relatives, and charities,\u201d because it ensures that her gift \u201cwill truly make a difference.\u201d<\/p>\n

During her 11 years at Normandie Ridge, Betty, who recently celebrated her 100th birthday, has supported many campus initiatives. These include the environment and benevolent care. Betty’s desire to “make a difference,” and to assure that her great love for the community will live on, led her to create the Normandie Ridge John Petrick Jr. and Elizabeth Petrick Enhancement and Environment Fund. Named for Betty and her late husband, the endowment will begin funding when she passes away. “Normandie Ridge has done so much for me,” says Betty. “I feel so blessed and want to share some of my blessings.”<\/p>\n

And when Betty discovered there was no age limit to create a Charitable Gift Annuity her mind was made up. Through the annuity, Betty is able to enjoy lifetime income, tax savings and make an impact at Normandie Ridge.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was able to give much more generously and still benefit myself by doing this,\u201d says Betty. \u201cSo, if you ask why I support Normandie Ridge, I confess that the annuity is a trifle selfish, but I could do this for any number of pet causes, and I\u2019ve chosen us. I\u2019ve been so blessed to be able to live and grow here.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI am such a somebody!\u201d<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Widowed and without children, Betty has committed her entire estate to the community she loves. \u201cI think it may be best to surprise people as things happen!\u201d she says with a twinkle in her eye.<\/p>\n

And she is excited about the many ways her gift will make a difference. \u201cSo many times, I have looked at something and said to myself, \u2018Why doesn\u2019t somebody do something about this,\u2019\u201d says Betty. \u201cIt is a great feeling to know that I am such a somebody!\u201d<\/p>\n
