Asbury Place Kingsport’s Regional Reputation

Nestled beneath Bays Mountain, Asbury Place Kingsport has earned its reputation for excellence in senior living and health care since we first opened our doors in 1989. In keeping with our not-for-profit status, residents are our first priority, driving our Mission and operational decisions. In collaboration with residents and associates, we strive to redefine aging services with an engaging experience that helps all stakeholders thrive.

Financial Strength

Asbury Place Kingsport has the honor of being part of Asbury Communities, Inc., the nation’s 16th-largest, not-for-profit continuing care retirement community systems. The financial strength of the Asbury system gives residents the peace of mind that comes from knowing our operations are held to the highest standard. Asbury Place Kingsport is overseen by a volunteer Board of Directors who are leaders in their respective fields and work in concert with several Asbury Communities Board committees. They are responsible for ensuring strong operations. Asbury monitors and strengthens its fiscal health by:

  • Requiring an annual audit to review the system’s consolidated annual statements. See and download our Audited Consolidated Financial Statements and the Asbury Inc. IRS Form 990 below.
  • Participating in a national accreditation process operated by CARF International.

Accreditation

Our accreditation by CARF International is a standard held by less than 20 percent of the country’s continuing care retirement communities. This means that an independent, on-site survey team continues to find us in compliance with more than 600 measures of quality and financial strength related to long-term viability.

Benevolent Care

Our Benevolent Care program is part of our not-for-profit pledge, faith-based pledge. Should you outlive your financial resources through no fault of your own, you will have a place to live along with access to services and care. Asbury’s Benevolent Care program funded through the Asbury Foundation. Residents can apply to receive help with monthly fees, food, medical care, medications and health insurance. Participation in this program is strictly confidential and can also assist with payment for dental, hearing and eye care services.

Our Governing Body and Operations

Asbury Place Kingsport is owned and operated by Asbury, Inc., which is the provider and legal entity responsible for providing services to the residents of this community.

Day-to-day operations of Asbury Place are managed by the community’s Executive Director and Leadership Team and supported by the Asbury Inc. Board of Directors and Asbury Communities, Inc., which is the 501(c)(3) sole member providing Asbury Place and other entities in the Asbury system with strategic guidance and clinical, compliance, communications, finance, human resources, IT, and marketing services.

Residents are valued members of this community, and their feedback and ideas are sought through a Resident Council and various committees. Many of the programs and amenities on this campus have resulted from residents’ input and expertise.
