Staying Active

Staying active is a key to living well. Study after study shows that regular exercise not only fends off disease and disability, but makes your mind sharper, too. At Asbury Methodist Village, you’ll find an active senior lifestyle that promotes your physical wellness regardless of your current level of activity.

The Rosborough Cultural Arts and Wellness Center is the hub of the campus wellness initiative called HealthAbility™. The Rosborough Center houses an indoor lap pool, a well-equipped fitness center and an indoor walking trail. Try out one of our many fitness classes. It’s all part of your monthly fee. Staying active socially is breeze, too. Resident-run clubs, social events and volunteer opportunities abound. Sign up for a Keese School or Osher Institute lecture or try our award-winning Brain Waves brain fitness course.

You can find dining groups, travel opportunities and groups for just about any interest under the sun. And you’re more than welcome to organize your own. You can’t help but feel the energy on campus and the pride residents feel knowing they helped create this vibrant community. What will you bring to the table?

Physical wellness and HealthAbility

Need a nudge? At Asbury Methodist Village, you have free access to a fitness specialist who will customize a program to help you achieve your fitness goals. Want to improve your balance or your strength? You’ll get a plan and plenty of encouragement. Through regular assessments, you can track your progress and get hints about how to improve even more.

More than half of those in residential living and one-third of assisted living residents participate in HealthAbility fitness programs. Participants have noted an average 14 percent increase in upper body strength, 12 percent improvement in balance, and 11 percent increase in endurance. In a recent resident satisfaction survey, the “quality of the wellness center” earned some of the highest ratings.
