Asbury and AgeTech Collaborative™ from AARP Announce Nation’s First Asbury Smart Living Showcase

Asbury Methodist Village is proud to be home to the nation’s first Asbury Smart Living Showcase with AgeTech Collaborative™ from AARP. This innovative pilot features a two-bedroom apartment equipped with startup senior technology to support connected and secure living.

The AgeTech Collaborative™ is actively identifying smart technologies for older adults’ homes across the country. These technologies enable older adults and their care teams to track and monitor data to prevent injuries, and detect health issues, such as fall risks, at earlier stages.

Residents began guided group tours of the apartment in mid-October, where they engaged with the technology and were asked to provide their feedback on which technologies are most interesting to them. Eventually, some or all of the technologies will be part of Asbury’s offerings to new residents.

  • Xander: Captioning glasses assist those with hearing challenges by projecting real-time captions.
  • iGuard Home Solutions: Monitors stoves to prevent fires, automatically shutting off when no motion is detected.
