{"id":1653,"date":"2024-02-16T15:35:10","date_gmt":"2024-02-16T19:35:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.asbury.org\/riverwoods\/blog\/2024\/02\/16\/philanthropy-enhances-a-healing-environment\/"},"modified":"2024-02-16T15:35:10","modified_gmt":"2024-02-16T19:35:10","slug":"philanthropy-enhances-a-healing-environment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.asbury.org\/riverwoods\/blog\/2024\/02\/16\/philanthropy-enhances-a-healing-environment\/","title":{"rendered":"Philanthropy Enhances a Healing Environment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>This 2015 story from our Asbury Foundation FOCUS Magazine archives is one of many inspiring stories sharing the actions of our donor family.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Wilson Health Care Center has provided excellent skilled nursing and rehabilitation services to the community in Gaithersburg, Md., for nearly 40 years.<\/p>\n<p> In 2014, Asbury undertook the first major renovations at Wilson in its Transitional Care neighborhood, creating an open, light-filled healing environment that complements the quality of care. A number of generous donors have helped support Asbury\u2019s investment in Wilson.<\/p>\n<p>Asbury Guild members were the first to step forward, committing to a gift to name the amenity station in the Transitional Care neighborhood\u2019s Bistro. Between Elves Day, birthday parties, the gift shop and a host of other resident activities and programs, the Guild has been vital to the care provided at Wilson. \u201cI\u2019m glad the Guild was able to be part of the renovations,\u201d said Jean Hefner, Asbury Guild president. \u201cThis is a nice addition to all we do to support Wilson residents.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Betty Yeide first moved to Asbury Methodist Village from Silver Spring to be closer to her husband of 56 years as he was being cared for at Wilson Health Care Center. \u201cIt meant so much to me to see Harry being treated so well by everyone at Wilson,\u201d Betty said.<\/p>\n<p>Betty is very happy that she stayed at Asbury following Harry\u2019s passing in 2013. She recently made a gift to name one of Wilson\u2019s new private suites in his memory. She views the gift as an extension of what he would have done to thank those who supported him in his time of need.<\/p>\n<p>Artha Jean Snyder may be the most recognizable face at Asbury Methodist Village. Her regular programs for the on-campus AVTV television station endear her to residents and associates. When she\u2019s not busy in the TV studio or writing for her memoirs class, she is finding a way to help others. Her gift to support the Wilson renovations was the most recent chapter in her philanthropy at Asbury.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWilson is a very important part of this community,\u201d Artha Jean said. \u201cIt should be the best it can be.\u201d Artha Jean\u2019s gift is recognized with a plaque at the fireplace in the Transitional Care Bistro, a warm and friendly location suitable for the personality it honors.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This 2015 story from our Asbury Foundation FOCUS Magazine archives is one of many inspiring stories sharing the actions of our donor family.
