Giving Back to Those Who Give

This 2022 story from our Asbury Foundation FOCUS Magazine archives is one of many inspiring stories sharing the actions of our donor family.

Neils Peterson is an Asbury Springhill resident who cares deeply for his community. He recently connected his passion with something else near and dear to his heart: supporting associates.

Neils made a donation to the Asbury Foundation to help associates further their education and grow their career. “It is important to me that we help others in the spirit of giving,” said Neils, whose donation will go toward providing scholarships for nursing team associates. “Helping associates feel good is important, so they know we appreciate their work and want to support their goals.”

Asbury Foundation Vice President of Development Susan Mayernick believes it will be a game-changer for the community. “Neils brings a renewed energy to current nursing scholarships available at Springhill,” said Susan. “He truly wants to make a difference with his immediate pass-through scholarship for associates that have kept residents safe throughout the pandemic and encourage associates to build their career and stay with Asbury long-term!”

Preparing the next generation of leaders is a core value for Asbury. Neils’ thoughtful support for just this cause is a welcome expansion to the career growth opportunities available for Springhill associates. “I look forward to seeing all the lives touched by this scholarship in the years to come,” said Springhill Executive Director Jane Gibson.
