Asbury Solomons is Calvert County’s only accredited waterfront Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), committed to providing a rich and fulfilling lifestyle for residents at every stage of life. We value our not-for-profit status and our EAGLE accreditation through the United Methodist Association of Health and Welfare Ministries.

Asbury Solomons is part of Asbury Communities Inc. system, the nation’s 14th-largest not-for-profit system of continuing care retirement communities as ranked by LeadingAge Ziegler 200 (LZ 200). Being part of a larger organization brings greater financial strength, a wide range of support services, and an experienced senior leadership team with a strategic vision and plan for the future.

Financial Strength

Asbury Solomons is overseen by the volunteer Asbury Communities Board of Directors. As leaders in their respective fields, which range across finance, insurance, policy, and senior services, they ensure sound operations and adherence to our Mission. Asbury Solomons continues to strengthen its fiscal health by:

Ensuring high levels of occupancy. For more than 10 years, Asbury’s occupancy has been at or above national averages reported by an industry monitor, the National Investment Center
Participating in a national EAGLE accreditation process, operated by the United Methodist Association of Health and Welfare Ministries.

Accreditation

In keeping with our faith-based heritage, Asbury Solomons holds EAGLE accreditation through the United Methodist Association of Health and Welfare Ministries. EAGLE, or Educational Assessment Guidelines Leading toward Excellence, is the only faith-based accrediting body in the world. In addition to measuring its member organizations against sound financial and operational principles, EAGLE looks for evidence of a values-based, Mission-focused culture.

Benevolent Care

Our Mission and faith-based heritage is reflected in our Benevolent Care program, managed by the Asbury Foundation. Should a resident outlive their financial resources through no fault of their own, they will be able to apply for assistance with monthly fees, food, medical care, medications and health insurance. Participation in this program is strictly confidential. Benevolent Care is just another way Asbury Solomons strives to do all the good we can for the people who make our community so unique.

Our Governing Body and Operations

Asbury Solomons is owned and operated by Asbury Atlantic Inc., which is the provider and legal entity responsible for providing services to the residents of this community. It is overseen by the volunteer Asbury Communities Board of Directors, which is comprised of experienced leaders in such industries as finance, insurance, policy, and senior services.

Day-to-day operations of Asbury Solomons are managed by the community’s executive director and leadership team. They are supported by Asbury Communities, Inc., which is the 501(c)(3) sole member providing Asbury Atlantic and other entities in the Asbury system with support with strategic guidance and clinical, compliance, communications, finance, human resources, IT and marketing services.

Residents are valued members of this community, working in collaboration with campus leadership through a Resident Council and their involvement in committees related to campus operations. Many of the programs and services at Asbury Solomons are the result of resident input and expertise.
